Permanent Whole Time Post
UCC wishes to appoint an academic to the following role of Lecturer (below bar) in Education (Physical Education). The post requires expertise in Sports Studies and Physical Education as well as potential to teach across programmes within the School of Education.
Reporting to the Head of School the appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching, assessment, school placement, and programme development and administration at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will be expected to engage in research and scholarly activity relevant to the discipline of Education and engage in research supervision.
The role will involve lecturing in Sports Studies and Physical Education, supporting school placement needs, supporting postgraduate studies, undertaking research, and building and sustaining community links in the education field, while contributing to UCC academic life. The successful candidate will hold (or will be close to completion of) a doctorate in Education; or will be willing to undertake doctorate study. They will demonstrate a broad understanding of the Irish education sector.
Evidence of research expertise, appropriate to the grade of the post, in the discipline of education, and contribution to the broader field of education would also be requisite for appointment to this post. Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (Below the Bar) Salary Scale: €42,602 – €73,177 (Scale B) / €44,669 – €69,631 (Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
