Lecturer: Aviation (Large Aircraft Operations) (Level B)

  • Commencement Salary: $104,838 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

This teaching focused position is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of courses within STEM’s undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programs in the Aviation discipline. The position will manage the Universities two large aircraft simulators (Airbus A320 and Boeing 737) and contribute to associated pilot training courses. The position will work independently and as part of a team to support STEM’s teaching and learning outcomes in the Aviation discipline, with a particular focus on Large Aircraft Operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design and development of engaging, relevant and technology-enhanced curricula for identified programs and courses
  • Effectively undertake administrative duties related to teaching activities of identified courses and programs
  • Undertake course coordination and/or provide leadership to other academic staff in the teaching team
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and implement innovative teaching approaches

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Postgraduate degree or relevant and commensurate industry/discipline experience in the field of aviation
  • Demonstrated ability in Large Aircraft Operations, including a recognised industry qualification such as an Airline Transport Pilot Licence, or similar
  • Experience in teaching, including design and preparation of teaching activities and resources
  • High-level communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, colleagues, and external parties
