Lecturer/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Residence/Director of Clinical Operations

ROLE of the POSITION

This is a search for a Non-Tenure Track Lecturer or Assistant/Associate/Professor-in Residence that will also serve as the Director of Clinical Operations within the School of Nursing. This person will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all processes, systems, priorities and activities associated with clinical placement of undergraduate and graduate students of the School of Nursing. The Director oversees both undergraduate and graduate clinical placement, and will lead clinical adjunct faculty and preceptor recruitment efforts for the School. The Director of Clinical Operations will provide the vision and leadership for student placement to meet the challenges presented by growing competition for student placements from other local nursing and health professional schools. The Director of Clinical Operations works with the Associate Deans, Program Leads, Course Coordinators and Clinical faculty as appropriate

for the task.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Engages in strategic advocacy, planning and coordination to ensure that undergraduate and graduate student clinical placements meet the required experiences and enable students to achieve expected learning outcomes.
• Organizes and coordinates undergraduate and graduate clinical placements with internal and external stakeholders, including the clinical placement consortium, and other clinical partners.
• Establishes, evaluates, and monitors all processes and procedures that support clinical operations infrastructure such as contractual agreements, consortium, and systematic evaluation and routine review of each clinical placement (site and preceptor) to ensure strategic and academic program needs are met.
• Manages and evaluates the part time clinical nursing faculty including their hiring, teaching assignment, and orientation.
• Develops and implements a clinical placement onboarding program for undergraduate and graduate students, preceptors, and faculty.
• Collaborates with program coordinators and directors to identify clinical placement needs and develop and implement strategies to expand clinical practice sites, including but not limited to, exploratory site visits.
• Collaborates with program leads to develop and maintain a preceptor dashboard.
• Serves as primary point of communication with clinical practice partners in the community

This person may also be required to teach courses. Primary responsibility for teaching would be (1) teach nursing courses consistent with area of expertise; (2) collaborate with other faculty in course development; (3) use teaching resources, such as WebCampus/Canvas to foster learning; (4) provide student supervision; (5) participate in school, university, professional and community service activities. Classes in the School of Nursing are offered year-round, using a trimester sequence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The individual must hold a Master’s Degree in Nursing to qualify as a Lecturer or a Doctorate Degree in Nursing to qualify as an Assistant/Associate/Professor-in-Residence. The individual must also hold or be qualified to hold a Nevada RN license and if selected applicant is subject to a one-time background check. Faculty rank will be dependent upon educational credentials, terminal degree and experience. They must also have the following education and experience:

• Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
• Outstanding organization skills and ability to multi-task
• Initiative, creativity, problem-solving ability, adaptability, and flexibility
• Ability to work without direct supervision and practice autonomously
• Ability to collaborate with professional colleagues as necessary to provide quality care
• Experience working with complex organizations
