We are seeking an agile and innovative teaching and research academic to join the Health Promotion and Sexology discipline in 2023. The successful candidate will have a track record of teaching and learning excellence in one or more of the following fields, and an emerging track record of community facing research and engagement with industry and government:

  • Health Promotion
  • Sexology
  • Public Health

Our ideal candidate will be highly skilled in contemporary tertiary learning and teaching methods including face to face, blended and online delivery methods to provide outstanding student experiences. You will provide authentic learning, supervision, and assessment experiences for our diverse undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree by research students. You will demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic team and build productive relationships with students, peers, and stakeholders.

With an emerging, independent track record of successful research, you will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the discipline focus areas and lead researcher-led and industry-driven research opportunities. You will have strong connections with the professional community for the Health Promotion and/or Sexology disciplines and the ability to lead and influence your profession and discipline.

Please provide your CV and a cover letter addressing the selection criteria (noted below) to allow us to assess your suitability for this role.

  • PhD in Sexology, Health Promotion or Public Health or related discipline.
  • Tertiary learning and teaching capability, including scholarly and innovative approaches to delivering excellence in teaching face to face and online.
  • Experience teaching content and concepts across the disciplines of Sexology and Health Promotion.
  • Experience in developing or improving curriculum and ensuring compliance to teaching and learning policies.
  • Experience in, or the ability to, supervise research students including higher degree research students.
  • A developing research track record, including peer-reviewed journal articles, grants, knowledge translation experience and an independent area of research consistent with the discipline focus.
  • Active and sustained experience in service and engagement activities within the university environment and with discipline relevant external and community facing stakeholders.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Eligible to apply for registration as an International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) Registered Health Promotion Practitioner and/or Membership with the Society of Australian Sexologists.
