Job description

An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and suitably qualified candidates to join the Policing Team at UCLan, located within the School of Justice. The successful candidates will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of engaging, challenging and transformative teaching across the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the school. You will be expected to promote the delivery of an excellent student experience.

Our teaching programmes are very popular and well attended and as a Lecturer you will be required to act as module leader for several modules and to teach across our various programmes. We deliver teaching at the main Preston Campus, the Burnley Campus and in regional Police Constabularies. You will be expected to be able to deliver teaching in any of those locations and online.

We are not only currently seeking candidates with general policing relevant profiles but also those with experience and ability to deliver high quality teaching in relation to Financial Investigation. Specific experience would be an advantage in the Global legal and regulatory framework for combatting money laundering together with experience of the planning and conduct of Financial Investigations within both a civil and criminal context.

We require you to demonstrate teaching or training experience and relevant substantial professional policing experience or other relevant associated profession and/or a proven track record in policing relevant research.

You will need to be educated to good honours degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject with a masters of PhD in a relevant area or willingness to register for one. You will also evidence a flexible and innovative approach to teaching and learning and research with an ability to work on your own initiative as well as being part of team. You should also be IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and other packages.

The role will require the flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends.

An experience of teaching in a Higher Education environment will be an additional benefit as would a formal teaching qualification or registered Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. (Advance HE)

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
