Required Education Candidates must hold a professional degree (Master’s level required) in the field of dietetics or human nutrition and hold the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential. Candidates must maintain credentialing as a RD/RDN and document and sustain membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Required Related Experience Candidates must provide evidence of professional teaching experience and demonstrate familiarity with ACEND standards for dietetics education.

Job Summary The Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition at the University of Kentucky invites applications for full-time Lecturer position. This is a nine-month (August 16 – May 15), non-tenure eligible position, renewable annually based upon satisfactory performance. Funding for the position is guaranteed for three years with a desired start date of January 1, 2023. If the position is successfully filled mid-year, the contract will be renewed through May 15, 2024. The contract period after May 15, 2024 will run August 16 – May 15.
Candidates for this position should have a desire to work as part of a collaborative and cross-disciplinary team in a growing academic unit. Strong interpersonal communication skills are needed to engage with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external community partners. Our new colleague will be responsible for teaching innovative and engaging undergraduate courses in the dietetics and human nutrition degree programs; advising, mentoring, and assisting students in professional development and special projects, as well as serving as an academic advisor; and, if mutually agreeable, may assume administrative duties for the accredited didactic or internship programs in Dietetics.
The position has an expected distribution of effort (DOE) of approximately 95% instruction and 5% service to the educational mission of the department through annual agreement with the department chair.
The department’s Didactic program in Dietetics (DPD), Accelerated Coordinated Program in Dietetics (ACP), and Dietetic Internship (DI) are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). The dietetics and human nutrition curriculum incorporates high-impact experiential learning experiences including internships, undergraduate research, and international and domestic study programs. The Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition has a rich tradition of community engagement and integration in Extension projects throughout the Commonwealth. Faculty service includes service on departmental and college committees and participation in student-focused events such as Commencement.
The Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition resides in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, which has complementary strengths and collaborative opportunities. The Department offers a BS in Dietetics, BS in Human Nutrition, and MS in Nutrition and Food Systems. As well, the Department collaborates as part of two undergraduate certificates – Nutrition for Human Performance and Food Systems and Hunger Studies – as well as a graduate certificate in Applied Nutrition and Culinary Medicine. Faculty in the department are engaged in diverse research projects, including community, food systems, performance and body composition, and translational research. Faculty and staff in the department are uniquely positioned to collaborate with Extension colleagues through a wide variety of programming and funded research projects.
