LECTURER

The Department of Comparative Biosciences seeks an individual with a strong commitment and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Responsibilities include participation in multiple team-taught courses in the curriculum of the UW School of Veterinary Medicine, including both lecture and laboratory components. Courses include Fundamental Principles of Veterinary Anatomy, Anatomy of the Large Domestic Animals, Physiology, Pharmacology, Toxicology and Histology. Specific duties include delivering lectures, preparing for and leading laboratory sections, assisting students with dissections, attending team meetings and lectures given by other team members, and assisting in preparation and grading of exams. Experience with computer assisted learning tools is helpful. The successful candidate will be expected to help advise first year veterinary medical students and contribute to the service mission of the department, including serving on committees as appropriate.

• 60% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• 20% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• 20% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

PhD or other terminal degree preferred.

Experience teaching anatomy required (veterinary, comparative or human anatomy), teaching or experience in histology, physiology, pharmacology or toxicology is desirable..

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. When there are no in person teaching for a given day, and there are not laboratory course preparation needed for the next day’s instruction, the incumbent would be allowed to grade assignments and write exams remotely.
