POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Learning and Liaison Librarian will liaise proactively and build relationships with students, researchers and instructors in the undergraduate and graduate programs as well as support partnerships within the University and beyond. Experience working with science faculty and students or an undergraduate degree in the sciences would be an asset. The Librarian will employ technology in innovative ways to deliver tools and services that support teaching, learning and research at the University; provide library instruction; develop and maintain subject research guides; work with colleagues to provide, promote, manage and evaluate library services, resources and collections; and collaborate with colleagues to support the data management and curation needs of these research communities.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide learning and liaison services to several academic departments, which may include discipline-specific instruction for upper-year and graduate students, evaluating collection needs for assigned departments, writing library reports in support of curriculum evaluations, and evaluating library resources for purchase or subscription;
• Be available for in-person and online reference and research assistance for undergraduate/graduate students and faculty;
• In co-ordination with colleagues, works to support course instructors in facilitating access to course readings;
• Explore and recommend diverse educational delivery models for library instructional programming that consider multi-modal approaches based on sound learning principles and evidence-based pedagogy;
• Work with colleagues to adopt educational technology to enhance the library’s teaching and learning goals;
• Work in collaboration with faculty, instructors, and library colleagues to determine the best approaches for pedagogical and instructional design;
• Work with colleagues across campus on initiatives related to information literacy and student programming;
• Participate on committees and working groups related to instruction and communication.

QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Expertise
• A Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent;
• Experience working in academic libraries;
• Knowledge of library resources in the sciences desirable with particular emphasis on the health sciences;
• Demonstrated experience providing reference and library instruction services;
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional or training materials;
• Experience with a variety of service models to support student engagement and learning;
• Knowledge of a variety of delivery methods and education technologies to support instructional and student learning needs;
• Experience with tools such as Blackboard or other learning management systems;
• Experience with content creation software such as H5P, video recording and editing tools;
• Experience developing communication content for a variety of channels, including web and social media;
• Knowledge of collection assessment practices desirable
