We are seeking to appoint two Digital Learning Designers / Technologists to join the Deakin Centre for Future Defence and National Security. You will support the development and continuous improvement of the Royal Military College – Australia.

The successful candidates will provide learning technology expertise that develops and modernises learning content the Australian Army’s Foundational Capability and Land Combat Capability, and where applicable, to ensure it is contemporary, capable of being delivered at the point and time of need, uses advanced technology where appropriate, is accessible for Army Reservists, and employs learning approaches that will support the goal of obtaining a Future Ready Training System.

These roles will work with the Lead, Digital Learning Technologist and Academic Director to develop the overarching strategy for the use of technology which will support learning outcomes ensuring that content development maintains a contemporary focus aimed at combining learning theory with technology.

Applicants will be required to attain a baseline security clearance as a part of the role.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Design engaging accessible and inclusive learning materials and activities in collaboration with teaching teams
• Draw on a diverse range of people, groups and resources to identify new or improved opportunities, processes and ways of doing things to enhance organisational strategy​
• Distil the core issues from complex information, draws accurate conclusions and condense complex information and next steps into simple concise terms that others can understand​
• Use knowledge of innovation principles to analyse current processes and practices​
• Establish and demonstrate a high level of learning, energy and commitment and maintain personal integrity and make decisions consistent with University values​
• Consult a diverse range of stakeholders and experts, not immediately involved, to gain a broader and deeper understanding of a specific issue​
• Promote technical solutions to modernise work practices and ensure alignment with Deakin’s strategic direction​
• Seek to continuously improve and apply critical learnings from projects and initiatives across the University ​
• Plans and prioritises work and critical activities appropriately and recognises barriers to achieving outcomes, finds effective ways to deal with them and evaluates progress​

To be successful, you’ll have:

• A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or​
• Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields​
• Knowledge of digital learning principles and practices as well as current and future trends in digital technologies.
• Strong customer service orientation and demonstrated skills in communication and engagement with diverse university stakeholders including, but not limited to, academic and professional staff, students and employers.
• Ability to initiate, design, develop, lead and complete initiatives in a timely, efficient and highly organised manner, and to maintain a focus on learning and teaching impact.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative and engaging teaching and learning solutions focussed on learning supported by educational technologies and to manage strategic change in teaching and learning.
