Job Description:

The Partnerships in Prevention Science Institution (PPSI) in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Learning and Training Specialist II who are passionate about training others.

PPSI conducts prevention and health promotion research that positively impacts the health and well-being of youth, adults, families, and communities across the country.

 The responsibilities include managing and providing training, technical assistance, and coaching to project communities who are implementing evidence and research-based program delivery systems. This position will act as a liaison between staff and the project communities to ensure effective and timely communication and coordination.

The successful candidate will have experience in developing and delivering training. Position is responsible for oversight and implementation of training iterations, which includes scheduling and resourcing training, oversight of trainers, facilitating training, and evaluating training quality.  In addition, the candidate will develop and disseminate materials including manuals and job aids to enhance successful implementation of evidence-based processes. 

Example of Duties
• Assesses instructional need.
• Provides instruction to participants.
• Prepares training materials.
• Prepares, maintains and operates audio-visual equipment, computer equipment and software and other educational aides.
• Solicits feedback from participants via surveys and other mechanisms to determine transference of knowledge and areas of improvement.
• Tracks attendance of participants.
Level Guidelines
• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
• Provides guidance to students
