Lead Scheduler – Oncology Services – Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)

The Lead Scheduler actively coordinates an organized and efficient case flow of electronic scheduling day-to-day patient activities, monitoring/resolving potential scheduling conflicts or complaints at patient reception. Collects co-pays, answers phones, verifies insurance, registers new patients, and checks patients in/out. The Lead Scheduler is responsible for monitoring the front desk and such activities as new staff orientation process, precepting staff, and validating competencies.  Supervises scheduling staff and New Patient Referral Staff ensuring they adhere to hospital policies and procedures.  Compile front desk reports for analysis and quality improvement.  Oversees the TES edits and ensures competency and accuracy of scheduling staff to reduce edits on the list. Must work with any and every physician in the clinic.  Will help with scheduling reports and scheduling templates and maintenance. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:
• High School graduate or equivalent.

Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
• 6 years’ experience required (of which 3 years are required in general scheduling and 3 years are required in oncology scheduling)
– If the past 3 years’ experience prior to application has been in oncology scheduling, it can be considered in lieu of the total of 6 years requirement
• Working knowledge of insurance authorization and verification process of major medical insurance.
• Possesses strong customer service skills to promote pleasant and effective interactions with patients, staff, and physicians.
• Ability to set priorities and complete assignments in a timely manner under minimal supervision.
• Experience with Oncology Referral Services supervises the admission of patients and supervises the entry process of the acute patient entering Norris and/or USCUH.

Required License/Certification:
• Fire and Safety Certification. If employee does not have card upon hire one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
