Job Description:
The Lead Data Analyst position will work to enhance the Advancement Division’s ability to collect, mine, analyze, and visually represent a wealth of data, allowing key stakeholders to make informed, strategic decisions that help to increase engagement and philanthropic support for the University. The incumbent will leverage a vast array of demographic and behavioral data that is derived from internal and external sources and will be charged with gathering, analyzing, and interpreting it in order to identify key trends and opportunities for growth. The Lead Data Analyst will implement analytical techniques, including statistical analysis, modeling, and data visualization in support of all departments within Brown Advancement and will make recommendations that drive programmatic strategy, improve efficiency, and increase results.
This position reports to the Senior Director, Data Analytics and Strategic Marketing and will work closely with colleagues within the Advancement Marketing, Advancement Information Services, Data Management, and Research and Prospect Management teams. The incumbent will also partner with colleagues from the Office of Information Technology and the Data Science Initiative for advanced machine learning projects that utilize historical behavioral data to better predict future outcomes, and based on findings, develop strategies to increase the effectiveness of engagement and solicitation efforts.
The Lead Data Analyst will work to build out data analytics services across the Advancement Division and will help lead the data analytics team to establish policies, develop protocols, and implement best-practices. The incumbent will ensure that the team is up-to-date with emerging techniques across a wide range of fields such as classical machine learning, analysis, and visualization.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with strong computational emphasis such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Intelligence or related field required. Master’s degree with strong computational emphasis preferred
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (data analytics, data science, mathematics, computer science, business intelligence) experience required
Supervisory experience preferred
Experience with querying languages, such as SQL, used for accessing and manipulating data from databases
Experience with programming languages such as, Python, R, MATLAB, C++, etc.
Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBi, Tableau, Dunbas BI, JupyeR, etc.
Experience with statistical modeling and classical machine learning techniques (linear regression, logistic regression, decision trees, etc.)
Experience with relational databases and data warehouses
