LEAD COMPLIANCE ASSISTANCE COORDINATOR

This position is located in the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Public Health (DPH), Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Health (BEOH), Lead and Asbestos Section, Field Compliance Unit (FCU), and is maintained through a contract and ongoing partnership with the UW Madison’s Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS).
The Lead Compliance Assistance Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating and managing internal and external program communications related to lead investigation. This position will perform duties to ensure that people performing regulated lead investigation activities follow proper work practice and that their work is done in a manner that protects public health. Duties of the position include but are not limited to: routine review of lead investigation reports, face-to-face feedback, mentoring, and coordinating with programs at DHS that work with the certified lead investigators. Additionally, this position will develop outreach tools to ensure consistent messaging to the regulated community.
This position will be headquartered in an approved alternate work location in Wisconsin. While most work will be in south-east Wisconsin, some work will be statewide and may require some statewide travel.

• 40% Collects, compiles, and organizes reports for a defined compliance program and communicates data to internal and external stakeholders when appropriate
• 20% Issues compliance notifications and provides education and resources to inquiring entities
• 20% Assists with the creation and the maintenance of manuals, communication materials, and other compliance materials in accordance with established laws and regulations
• 5% Contribute on creating and updating materials, documents, and forms (FAQ, report templates, policies, etc.) that will aid certified lead investigators to stay in compliance while conducting and reporting on lead investigation work.
• 5% Create consistent messaging on lead investigation work by maintaining open communication and documentation of decisions made in coordination with CLPPP, LSHP, and FCU
• 5% Provide presentations and consulting to audiences (e.g., certified professionals and companies, local public health departments and other government agencies, and the general public) on lead investigation topics
• 5% Provide compliance and technical assistance to regulated lead investigators by routinely reviewing required lead investigation reports, documenting noncompliance, providing face to face feedback, and issuing a compliance assistance summary letter.

Requirements:
– Current certification as a lead risk assessor.
– Experience communicating effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences (such as local health staff, contractors and the general public).
– Knowledge or experience in construction, building trades, or housing inspection.
– Ability and willingness to travel occasionally (in Wisconsin).
– 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications:
– Proficiency in lead hazard investigation and a thorough knowledge of lead hazard remediation techniques, data utilization, and report writing.
– Experience translating technical information or materials into clear communication using plain language principles and data visualization best practices.
– Experience in outreach and consultation techniques and ability to work with a variety of professional groups and individuals.
– Experience developing and implementing communication plans or health education materials (e.g., fact sheets, infographics, success stories, etc.).
– Experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and presenting data and/or information.

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location.
