| Job Description: |
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is seeking a full time Laboratory Technician II. This position will work closely with other members of the research team including scientist, clinicians, research coordinators and students investigating alterations in the immune system associated with chronic respiratory diseases and olfactory loss. A strong work ethic, ability to work as a team and excellent hands-on skills are required. Laboratory experience and immunology coursework will strengthen applications but training will be provided for the right candidate. This position requires occasional work in the evenings, weekends and holidays. Essential Functions; Execute dose escalation studies and handle administration of drug treatments in accordance with IACUC protocols using murine models of chronic sinusitis. Conduct assays measuring airway functions including olfactory function, pulmonary function and CT scanning. Develop, organize and conduct flow cytometric analysis and data interpretation of murine and human airway tissues. Perform tissue processing, sectioning and routine histology/immunohistochemistry of murine airway tissues. Retrieve and process human tissue samples from the operating rooms and clinical of our clinical collaborators. This includes cataloging samples, establishing cell new primary cell lines and processing samples as appropriate for future experiments. |
| Expected Salary: |
$17.00 – $19.00 Hourly |
| Minimum Requirements: |
Associates degree in an appropriate area and two years of related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. |
| Preferred Qualifications: |
Experience working with mice and/or immunological assays is preferred. |
