Summary

The laboratory technician will perform laboratory work in support of pathology & immunology activities under the supervision of faculty.

Job Duties

• Fulfills research duties while supporting the work of technicians and scientists in a laboratory
• Learns standard operating procedures for analyzing and storing specimens.
• Learns how to use laboratory equipment and software appropriate for assigned tasks.
• Prepares specimens for testing in laboratory departments through plating, aliquoting, distributing and sorting.
• Completes meaningful independent projects in assigned area of laboratory.
• Works under direct supervision.
• Completes all the paperwork, technical, and non-technical procedures required to process and submit specimens
• Supports the lab by performing data entry, loading instruments, performing maintenance on all types of equipment, gathering supplies for testing.
• Performs a variety of administrative duties.
• Contributes to a cohesive team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and STEM coursework and lab experience.
• Strong interest and enthusiasm for scientific inquiry and biology specifically.
• Familiarity with computational methods for data analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; able to influence across all levels of the organization. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
• Fluent in English.
