The successful applicant will perform laboratory tasks and experiments associated with a project to study influenza vaccine protection in the nonhuman primate model. The incumbent will place orders for supplies and maintain records of orders and receipt of orders, will maintain a schedule for animal experiments, and coordinate experiments and animal manipulations with others in the lab and with collaborators. The incumbent will work in the biosafety-level 3+ laboratory within the Regional Biocontainment Laboratory to process and archive animal and human specimens that are acquired during the course of the study. The incumbent will perform immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry experiments on specimens. The successful applicant will contribute to writing reports of progress in the study.

 

1-2 years of experience working in immunology and/or microbiology, including handling and processing tissue samples using aseptic technique. Must pass clearances required for working in the Regional Biocontainment Laboratory of the University of Pittsburgh.
