The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Position summary
The DAIRY-T2D study aims to determine the role of dairy products
in the prevention of type 2 diabetes. Under the supervision of the
Principal Investigator, the candidate will participate in the
execution of clinical trials. Medical laboratory technicians conduct
routine medical laboratory tests and set up, clean, and maintain
medical laboratory equipment. Performs a variety of specialized
technical tasks according to established methodology.

General Duties
Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to
established standard operating procedures.
Prepares and sets up materials and equipment for
experiments,
Maintains equipment and performs minor repairs. Arranges for
servicing,
Processes, stores and organizes blood samples and maintains
sample database,
Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area,
Maintains inventory and purchases materials,
Records results, performs calculations, and compiles data.
Maintains records and files,
Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the
immediate supervisor.

Education / Experience

Education: DEC in related field
Experience: 1 to 2 years
General Skills/knowledge
Attention to detail: Performing tests requires exact
measurements and a good eye for detail, or the results could
be false,
Dexterity: Lab techs work with their hands and will need
dexterity to work with small vials, test tubes, and delicate lab
equipment,
Technical skills: Lab techs need to understand complex lab
machinery and computer programs used to conduct tests.

Additional information

Status: Temporary, Part-time (25-hour work week)
Pay Scale: from $20.78 to $31.18/hour
Work Shift:Variable (25 hour/week)
Work Site: Glen site
