We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic, and well organized lab technician for employment in the Section for Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology, Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (DTU Bioengineering), Technical University of Denmark. The position will include tasks within research, teaching, and selected administrative tasks. The position is covering two main areas, i.e., detailed experimental characterization of enzymes, including molecular properties and kinetics, and structural determination and characterization of proteins. Experience with protein techniques for characterization of protein properties and assay techniques to measure enzyme activity as well as crystallization for structural determination of proteins are essential prerequisites.

Primary responsibilities
You will primarily be involved in research work in the groups of Enzyme Technology, Enzyme Discovery, and Structural Enzymology. In collaboration with the other technicians you will be responsible for maintaining and supervising various instruments in the department, in particular the maintenance of crystallographic equipment such as the mosquito robot and solution robots, and different types of smaller equipment related to enzyme characterization, e.g. thermomixers, microplate readers etc. The primary responsibilities of the position also include support (preparation and student supervision) to the experimental course in Advanced Enzyme Kinetics, and support to the Protein Crystallography Core, support with certain trusted administrative tasks, as well as assistance with the safety instruction and general introduction and instruction of project students and younger researchers in the Section.

Our expectations of you
You have practical experience in lab work on proteins and enzymes as a technician, and you have broad knowledge of protein chemistry and enzyme assay techniques. In addition, you have good English and Danish skills in writing and speaking and experience with the Microsoft Office package (especially Excel). In addition to strong technical skills, we also expect that you have strong organizational skills, experience with work in a dynamic research environment with many international employees, and exceptional reliability.

Salary and appointment terms
Salary and employment conditions is based on the OAO-S joint agreement and association agreement for office workers, laboratory technicians and IT staff (HK/Stat) signed with the Danish Ministry of Finance.

The position is a permanent, full-time position 37 h/week. Starting date is January 1st 2023.

The workplace is DTU Bioengineering at DTU Lyngby Campus.
