The Gurkar lab at Aging Institute at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time Laboratory Research Specialist position. The laboratory pursues a variety of computational, biochemical, molecular, and cell biology approaches to investigate the role of DNA damage in aging and age-related pathologies. The ideal incumbent would be a specialist in mouse work, as well as cell culture- iPSC work.
This position requires significant experience working with mice, including colony maintenance, harvesting tissue and blood samples, drug and virus administration (such as intraperitoneal, tail vein, and oral gavage). In addition, adequate experiences in biochemical/molecular techniques such as western blots, PCR, cloning, and DNA/ RNA preparation are desired. Multi-tasking several experiments simultaneously and efficient time management is necessary. Must effectively communicate with PI and other lab personnel and faculty and contribute to lab management (expenditure, supplies, regulator training, etc.). This position is located at Bridgeside Point 1, 100 Technology Drive.
