Dr. Bonnie Nozari’s lab in the Psychology Department at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a full-time lab manager! Responsibilities include helping lab members with designing experiments, recruiting subjects, and handling payments and IRB issues, but the successful applicant will also have protected time for conducting their own research projects directly with Dr. Nozari or in collaboration with other lab members.
The position is most suitable for an individual seeking training and experience to pursue graduate studies in cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, or speech pathology. The successful applicant will work closely with Dr. Nozari and will have the opportunity to learn the fundamental principles of experimental design, statistical analysis, and cognitive testing in different populations such as neurotypical adults and individuals with brain damage.

Qualifications:

  • BA, BS, MA or MS degree in cognitive science, cognitive psychology, or a related field
  • Research experience in a lab that conducts cognitive and/or linguistic experiments on human subjects
  • Experience with designing experiments in professional software such as PsychoPy or Psych Toolbox
  • Programming skills in MATLAB or Python
  • Experience with PsiTurk and conducting online studies
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis

Additional Information:

  • Duration of appointment is one-year with potential for renewal for a second year pending satisfactory performance
  • Annual salary range is between $34,000- $38,000 depending on experience and qualifications. The position is eligible for full-time employment benefits

CVs that do not contain these pieces of information may not be reviewed.

2. A statement of purpose. A 1-2 page document stating (1) why this lab is of interest to the candidate, (2) what qualifications makes them a suitable candidate for this position, and (3) what their future career goals are.

3. Recommendation letters are not necessary at the time of application, but if an application is selected for further processing, the applicant must be ready to provide 2 letters of reference from academic supervisors/teachers.
