The School of Pharmacy is looking for a Laboratory Coordinator I to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

• One year of related laboratory experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
• Ability to identify, assess, and solve problems.
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree – Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry.

Preferred Experience:

• Maintenance of compounding equipment and instruments/ HSC ordering procedures experience. Experience in ordering, receiving, stocking, and inventory of lab supplies, operating simple lab equipment.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

• Laboratory Safety Certificates.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Compounding of non-sterile and sterile medications skills. Knowledge of the pharmacy profession.

Job Responsibilities: 

Lab Maintenance

• Maintains laboratory and core department equipment and instruments in proper operating conditions.
• Copies orders, protocols, and other laboratory documents.
• Maintains files with inventory of equipment, instruments, and chemicals.
• Disposes laboratory waste according to safety regulations.
• Organizes all laboratory supplies in teaching labs and stock rooms.
• Re-stocks supplies, place orders, receive orders, and file documentation of received supplies.
• Supervises student workers
• Oversees laboratory safety rules and regulations. Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness.
• Documents and files incident reports. Reports to HR if worker compensation related.
• Performs/assists with clerical and filing duties.
• Files and maintains documentation from all laboratory sessions.
• Registers and tracks warranties for various laboratory equipment.

Academic Assistance

• Alongside faculty, coordinates labs related to the Compounding and Sterile Lab. Assists pharmacy students during the training laboratory sessions.
• Prepares teaching compounding laboratory sessions according to instructions from faculty coordinator.
• Equips students with instruments, disposable supplies, and chemicals.
• Records student grades. Prepares and maintains electronic files with grade networks.
• Attends pre-lab lectures and presentations.
• Assists graduate teaching assistants.

Other Duties

• Performs other duties as assigned.
