The laboratory assistant is also responsible for performing a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. The laboratory assistant works with various computer information systems on a daily basis.The Global Logistics Team is looking for laboratory assistants. As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of a diverse, agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. In addition, you will perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. • Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology/Mayo Collaborative Services (DLMP/MCS) employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor.
• Internal applicants must attach their 3 most recent performance appraisals.
• Needs to be able to back up a box truck to a loading dock.
• Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred.
• Science background preferred.
• 1-2 years medical experience preferred.
• Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment.
• Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents.
• Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Experienced with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations.
