Job Summary
Under the supervision of the UCSF Fresno Office of Health Pathway Careers Director, the Academic Preparation Supervisor 2 will be responsible for daily operations of the San Joaquin Valley’s California Medicine Scholars Program (SJV-CMSP), a community college to medical school pathway program. This position is responsible for directly supervising and evaluating SJV-CMSP staff to ensure all program goals are being met. The program supervisor will independently oversee day-to-day operations, work collaboratively and communicate with the California Medicine Scholars centralized office leadership, track grant goals and objectives, and be responsible for all grant reporting requirements. The program supervisor will also develop and manage the SJV-CMSP budget, communicate and collaborate with all SJV-CMSP partners, including administrators from institutions of higher education. This position provides expert recommendations and feedback to UCSF Fresno leadership on strategic, fiscal, and program planning.
Department Description
UCSF Fresno is a regional campus of UCSF School of Medicine’ located in California’s Central Valley and the Department of Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) is the administrative unit that oversees all health professions education programs (medical and allied health) for the regional campus. UME provides services for 100 or more third year students from UCSF as well as 300 or more visiting 4th year medical students for clerkship rotations. UCSF Fresno has several accredited Residency & Fellowship programs under the auspices of Graduate Medical Education.
The UCSF Fresno UME Office is responsible for implementation of all strategic directives for medical education at the Fresno campus and for ensuring that those who serve undergraduate student learners are actively engaged in the highest quality learning and teaching environment with a strong commitment to diversity and UCSF’s PRIDE values. The UME Department currently has a staff of 8 including an Assistant Dean, Program Director, 2 management staff and 4 program coordinators to provide a full range of services and support to all learners.
SJV PRIME is a tailored track at UCSF School of Medicine for medical students who are committed to ensuring high quality, diverse and well distributed medical care to improve health for populations, communities, and individuals in California’s San Joaquin Valley. SJV PRIME offers interested medical students the unique opportunity to work in the San Joaquin Valley with highly underserved populations at the individual and community level. The program incorporates the unique expertise of UCSF, UC Merced, and UCSF Fresno faculty, as researchers, educators, and leaders in the field of health care in the Central Valley. Students accepted into the SJV PRIME program will spend their first 18 months at the main campus in San Francisco then transition to UCSF Fresno for the remaining 2 1/2 years for the reminder of the program.
