As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.The Service Unit High Performance Computing at TU Wien is offering two positions, one as Junior and one as Senior System Engineer (all genders) for Science Cloud Plattforms with the following tasks.Tasks:

  • Provision and optimization of platform services for research and teaching (AI, data science, teaching)
  • Independent operation of a private cloud (OpenStack, Kubernetes, SLURM)
  • Independent further development of DevOps approaches (Ansible, Python, Netbox, Gitlab CI/CD, ArgoCD, …)
  • Planning and optimization of server operation (e.g. hardware, storage, monitoring, backup, …)
  • Integration of the services into a common service platform
  • Ongoing training in the area of platform as a service and willingness to experiment with new solutions
  • Independent support and cooperation with the researchers at TU Wien

Your profile: Profile for junior candidates:

  • Academic education in the field of computer science or equivalent professional experience (at least 3 years)
  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of Platform as a Service (e.g. Openstack, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Proxmox), virtualization, storage technology (Ceph, NFS, NVMe-oF) and network technologies
  • Ability to innovate and willingness to learn
  • Accuracy in the implementation of documentation
  • Very good communication skills and a high degree of team spirit

Profile for senior candidates:

  • Academic education in the field of computer science or equivalent, several years of professional experience
  • Very good knowledge and several years of experience in the areas of Platform as a Service (e.g. Openstack, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Proxmox), virtualization, storage technology (Ceph, NFS, NVMe-oF) and network technologies
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to innovate and willingness to learn
  • Accuracy in the implementation of documentation
  • Very good communication skills and a high level of team spirit
