The Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health invites candidates to apply for the position of:

Junior Public Engagement Officer for the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health (0.6 FTE)

Position
For our Public Engagement Program, AJSPH is looking for a junior public engagement officer. In this program we organize activities, events, interactive exhibits, citizen science projects and more. The aim is connecting scientific researchers in the field of public and the general public in the Northern Netherlands. Our focus is on reaching those people who normally don’t interact a lot with science.

As a junior public engagement officer you support the program manager in developing and organizing our public engagement activities. You help designing an interactive exhibit, you support in developing two education programs for schools, you (co-)produce communication products (written, video, audio, photo) for our projects and you occasionally join our team when we go to festivals. The junior officer will work mainly on the European Researchers’ Night, a project funded by the European Union.

Qualifications

We are looking for a new colleague, a real team player. The new colleague will mainly focus on external communications and marketing. The following skills, abilities and qualifications are required:

  • University level, Master’s degree
  • independent, proactive and creative
  • affinity with the area of public health
  • affinity with public engagement
  • able to translate science to the public, mainly the lower income, lower educated people of the Northern Netherlands
  • excellent proficiency in English ánd Dutch language
  • capable of creating content, based on research results for different formats, e.g. activities, interactive exhibits, events
  • flexible and team-oriented
  • good team worker, with a results-oriented and creative attitude and excellent communication (incl writing) and collaboration skills (including intercultural skills)
  • demonstrable communication experience (website, intranet, campaigns, press releases, videos, interviews, key messages, new media).

Conditions of employment

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

  • a salary depending on qualifications and work experience, starting from a minimum of € 2,471 gross per month to a maximum of € 3,336 gross per month (salary scale 7) for a full-time position a full-time position (1.0 FTE)
  • a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income
  • an 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
  • minimum of 29 holidays and additional 12 holidays in case of full-time employment
  • participation in a pension scheme for employees.

This temporary employment is for one year, starting as soon as possible.
