Working for the Department of Trades, Infrastructure & Maintenance
The Trades, Infrastructure & Maintenance team includes staff who are responsible for the careful practice of construction, repairs, and scheduled maintenance of campus facilities. Trades staff are an essential contributor to the safe and efficient functioning of the university.
Position
Reporting to the Construction Superintendent, and leads the journeyman carpenter is an inaugural part of the whole trades team. A carpenter employed at the University of Alberta provides carpentry, cabinetmaking and related construction services to various faculties, departments & facilities, while maintaining a professional standard of quality. This work may involve new construction, renovations or maintenance of existing facilities & equipment. A carpenter working at the University of Alberta, is responsible not only for his own safety, but also for the safety of other trades people, staff, students, and the general public. Carpenters must be constantly aware of the effect their work may have on others and the dangers & risks involved.
