The Opportunity  
The individual in this position will respond to end user requests for technology support (Tier 1 and Tier 2) (communications, computer performance, installation of new software and system configuration etc.) This is a “high touch” position who will be supporting senior executives as well as line staff. This individual will also conduct one-on-one training of staff on key applications, particularly the Office 365 suite of tools . The individual will also assist with the refresh program and inventory, and will work with staff on IT related projects and research. Tasks for this person will vary from day to day.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Receive trouble tickets/communications, research and diagnose technical problems.

  • Research and diagnose end user or system issues by performing local and remote testing and partner with internal/external support to help find resolution.

  • Provide skilled installation such as new equipment configuration and installation of software.

  • Assist with the refresh program and inventory.

  • Work with staff on information technology related projects and solutions. Makes recommendations for purchases that benefit the department and the UTSA IT support footprint.

  • Train users on computer use, best practices, and computer/phone software and applications. Create and maintain documentation in support of these activities.

  • Develop, install, and maintain support processes for UTSA personnel and the systems that they use daily. This includes evaluating and implementing tools that improve the efficiency and security of the support processes for UTSA. Some of the tools will involve on-premises solutions, but some will involve cloud-based solutions that meet the needs of a mobile workforce.

  • Work with staff on information technology related projects and research.

Qualifications

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

Required Education & Qualifications:  
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma/GED and 1 year of direct experience. 
Candidate must have working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems Customer Service/ Problem Solving skills, excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational skills.  Candidate must possess communications skills, verbal and written and comfortable with public speaking.  The sccessful candidate will have basic Active Directory knowledge, moderate to advanced Office 365 knowledge, basic Networking knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

Preferred Qualifications  
The preferred candidate will have an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of experience.  Preference will be given for 2 years of demonstrable desktop support experience, proven ability to deliver training to individuals or groups, some video/course creation experience, one or more of the following certifications: A+, Network+, Microsoft Technology Associate (Infrastructure), Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or similar.
