Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is recruiting for an IT Technician 1 position for the Northern Area.  This position is based the Washoe County Extension Office in Reno, NV.  The IT Technician will assist the Northern Area IT department with basic IT duties and will assist faculty and staff members with computer troubleshooting. Other duties include hooking up printers, setting up computers for new employees, assembling and disassembling computer equipment and acting as an assistant to the IT Administrator on more complex assignments.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two (2) years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals; OR one (1) year of relevant experience as an IT Technician Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

This position requires working knowledge of Office Suites or Office 365

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Moderate travel within the assigned area (Northern Nevada).

Compensation Grade

Grade 26 (Entry, Step 01 $17.09/hr)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
