It’s also about how we support one another and how we show up for our community.Together, we keep getting better – advancing our mission to transform healthcare and serve as a leader of positive change.The Digital Technology Services (DTS) Scrum Master primary duties may include coaching and mentoring the scrum teams in all areas including Scrum Ceremonies like Sprint planning, Retrospective, Sprint Review, Daily stand-up, encouraging collaboration within the scrum team and Product Owners, supporting the team and the Product Owner and helping with communication across Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. This role is expected to help the Scrum team remove external and internal blockers/impediments and shield them from external distractions. Should steer the scrum team towards the sprint goals and assist the Product Owner with Backlog refinement. Should be innovators who constantly seek ways to improve themselves and the team.ResponsibilitiesA day in the life of a Digital Technology Services (DTS) Scrum Master at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile practices and Scrum Framework.
  • Oversee scrum process and coaches the team; facilitates transparency, inspection and adaptation.
  • Lead all scrum ceremonies like daily scrum, sprint review, and sprint planning in a way that ensures full team engagement.
  • Support Product Owner on refineming backlogs.
  • Conduct basic conflict resolution.
  • Foster close cooperation across all team members, encourage cross-training and supporting each other.
  • Facilitate basic communication and collaboration inside and outside the team.
  • Shield the team from external interference and ensure the team is fully functional and productive.
  • Foster self-organization and growth within the team.
  • Generate an agile mindset across teams through conversations and role playing exercises.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be comfortably raised and where challenging the status quo in an effort to attain continuous improvement is encouraged.
  • Coaching and mentoring Scrum Team.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

QualificationsEducation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in an agile software development environment, preferably as a Scrum Master.
  • Knowledge of Scrum development methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile / scrum tools (e.g., Asana).
  • Delivery or software development.
  • Familiarity with tech stacks.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, a desire to learn, and interpersonal skills.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Translation of complex technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Agile work process.
  • Experience with customer focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years working as a Scrum Master.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified Scrum Practitioner.
  • Certified Scrum Master.
