Supervisor: Logistics Officer

Contract Type: Casual (Daily rate)

Initial Duration: 1 Year

Start Date: 1st March 2026

Background & Purpose

IRC is establishing a roaster of casual drivers to support operations, ensuring safe, timely and compliant movement of staff, goods and documents within Abuja. Casual drivers will be engaged on an as -needed basis, depending on mission demand and coverage gaps.

Objective of the Assignment

  • Ensure safe, efficient, and cautious transportation for staff, visitors and goods
  • Maintain fleet safety and compliance (checklist, logs, routine checks and cleanliness)
  • Support administrative/errand runs (general office errands, airport pickup and drop offs, fuel supplies etc.)
  • Uphold organizational security, safeguarding, and code of conduct standard always.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving & Safety.
  • Operate assigned vehicle safely and defensively, adhere to speed limits, traffic laws and organizational SOPs.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post trip inspections (tires, brakes, lights, fluids, horn, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, tools, spare wheels, triangles).
  • Report mechanical issues immediately, coordinate with logistics officer for repairs and preventive maintenance

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurate maintenance of vehicle logbooks (Kilometer, fuel, destinations, passengers, cargo)
  • Ensure valid documents are in vehicles, registration, insurance, proof of road worthiness and copies of SOPs.
  • Keep daily movement plans.

Safety & Safeguarding

  • Monitor route/security advisories, follow movement approvals, curfew and phone check-in protocols
  • Apply passenger safety rules (Seatbelts, load limits, child safeguarding considerations)
  • Maintain strict zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs while on duty within 12 hours prior duty.

Customer Service & Representation

  • Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity with staff, partners and vendors.
  • Support airport/guest assistance (meet & greet, luggage, sign in/out procedures).

Asset Care

  • Keep vehicles clean (Interior & exterior) ensure accessories (AC/Radio) function properly.
  • Safeguard vehicle keys, prevent unauthorized use and after hours driving.

Deliverables/Key performance indicators

  • Zero preventable accidents and zero major traffic violations
  • 100% accurate, complete logbooks and on time submission
  • 100% on-time departures/arrivals per approved movement plan.
  • Vehicle readiness: daily checks completed, issues reported within 24 hours
  • Professional conduct: Positive feedback from passengers/line manager, no substantiated complaints.

Report & working Relationships

  • Report directly to logistics officer (copy to senior supply chain manager as needed)
  • Coordinates closely with the head driver, security, and administration for movement planning.

Work Schedule & Payment

  • Engagement: On call / as-needed basis, may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Daily rate (N9,514.00) payable for days worked upon verified timesheet/logbook
  • Location coverage: Abuja and occasionally Nasarawa state.

Required Qualification and Experience:

  • Valid Nigerian driver’s license (appropriate category for light vehicles)
  • Minimum of 3 years verifiable driving experience with INGO, UN, corporate or government entities preferred
  • Driver must have clear eyesight.
  • Clean driving record: No major violation in the last 24 months
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (fluid, tire changes, jump starts)
  • Communication: Basic English
  • Computer/Device literacy (emails, WhatsApp/SMS, basic GPS/Maps) desirable.
  • Behavioral: Punctual, integrity, confidentiality. Teamwork and respectful conduct
