The Compliance Manager will be responsible for day-to-day management of compliance obligations related to the Temple University’s intellectual property portfolio and ensuring that information about the portfolio is accurately tracked in appropriate systems. The Compliance Manager will fill a critical role of ensuring institutional compliance to Bayh-Dole regulations by Temple University and reporting obligations regarding intellectual property to other sponsors. Other responsibilities will include tracking transactional compliance pertaining to IP licenses and other agreements.

Essential Functions: Responsible for compliance with federal regulations (Bayh-Dole Act) and other sponsor requirements pertaining to the grant/sponsor supported IP development under the directions of the AD and with support from Innovation Managers as needed; Manages all applicable patent filing and reporting timelines (including requesting federal approval for extensions of deadlines) for title election, initial patent filing and non-provisional patent filings; Ensures that proper government support statements are included in filed patent applications; Updates data and reports required information via the federal government’s iEdison system, other sponsor reporting systems, as well as Temple’s eRA system and IP database; Responsible for Invention Disclosure compliance by ensuring disclosure completeness while also identifying and fulfilling any third-party obligations; Ensures third party compliance to Agreements, such as Licensing Agreements (LA), Option Agreements (OA), Confidentiality Agreements (CDA/NDA); Materials Transfer Agreements (MTA), Sponsored Research Agreements (SRA), Inter Institutional Agreements (IIA), etc. under the guidance from AD; Corresponds with internal and external parties regarding compliance requirements for intellectual property; Leads compliance related meetings with faculty and staff at Temple and educates them on compliance requirements; Articulates institutional policies and practices to investigators and external parties; Facilitates completion of IP assignments and liaises with the Office of Grants Management to provide required invention information for the close-out of grants and contracts; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
 An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Excellent computer skills and proficiency in competency using productivity software and databases
*Previous experience with InfoEd Research Administration or similar software system
*Two years of experience working in academic research and/or technology transfer environment
*Proven ability to work under time constraints while adhering to strict deadlines
*Familiarity with iEdison, IP management, and ability to understand legal agreements
*Task-, detail- and objective-oriented self-starter, along with the ability to prioritize and manage deadline schedules
* Excellent organization skills and ability to manage workload and multi-task projects effectively
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Understanding of university technology transfer, legal documents and/or intellectual property
* Working knowledge of patent prosecution deadlines, forms, processes, and terminology a plus
* Strong team player with a positive, customer-service attitude
* Must be able and willing to travel to other Temple campuses and to occasional off-site meetings.

This position requires a background check.
This is a grant funded position.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
