Key Responsibilities

  1. Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyze, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  2. Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of database information systems and
    survey forms to gather and process information required for DTM implementation, using
    standard design principles and patterns to attain high re-usability and maintainability.
  3. Assist in applying established statistical methods to analyze data, identify trends and support
    evidence-based reporting.
  4. Assist in improving and automating data validation mechanisms to support operational and
    reporting systems.
  5. Assist in performing data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and triangulation of information and in
    implementing proper backup, archive, and security procedures to maintain data integrity and
    availability.
  6. Present data in a format accessible for non-technical audiences
  7. Draft data stories and dashboards to better visualize DTM data.
  8. Contribute to statistical analysis of DTM and third-party data to increase understanding of
    mobility in the country.
  9. Draft status reports, identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor
    and suggest remedial actions.
  10. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics,
    statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
  11. Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records;
    organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  12. Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with
    local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental
    organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
  13. Assist in monitoring the work of implementing partners and report non-compliances to the
    supervisor.
  14. Provides guidance and training to field staff on data collection tools, data quality standards and
    information management procedures.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma with five years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Information Technology, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, International Relations, Development Studies,
    Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking
    and other vulnerable groups.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, nongovernment or
    government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience in SQL database development, web-based database applications and data analysis;
    knowledge of programming languages such as ASP.NET, C#, PHP and JavaScript is an advantage.
  • Experience in data analysis/information management/data visualization, previous experience with
    IOM DTM an advantage.
  • Experience with GIS and spatial analysis an advantage.

Skills

  • Ability to verify, clean and process data using, Python or R, MS SQL Server and MS Excel required.
  • Ability to design and maintain databases using MS SQL Server (Administration and Query).
  • Ability to address system irregularities and troubleshoot.
  • Ability to perform data modelling and produce static and dynamic analyses of trends, time specified
    and multi-sectoral data as needed.
  • Knowledge of mobile data collection, Kobo Toolbox (XLS Form design and data management).
  • Experience with design software Adobe Creative Cloud, Tableau, and PowerBI is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of DTM methods.
  • Experience with the UN system and coordination.
  • Information Management Systems.

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM’s official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
