IOM: Communications Consultant – Nairobi

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants

Key Responsibilities

Tasks to be performed under this contract

  1. In line with IOM and KQ standards, produce a video for various platforms to raise awareness about human trafficking and the efforts being made by IOM and Kenya Airways to combat it. The video will be shown on KQ’S in-flight video system, in airport terminals on TV screens, and online on both IOM and KQ social media channels, amongst others.
  2. In line with IOM and KQ standards, produce a poster design highlighting the dangers of human trafficking and the actions to take upon identifying a victim/if you are a victim. The posters will primarily be displayed in airport terminals.
  3. In line with IOM and KQ standards, produce a business card design for KQ travellers informing them on who to contact if they identify a victim of trafficking/become a victim of trafficking.
  4. Ensure that there is appropriate gender, diversity and inclusion awareness in all IOM external communications.
  5. Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results

  • One video (between 1:30-2:00 minutes long) submitted to and approved by IOM which raises awareness on about human trafficking and the efforts being made by IOM and Kenya Airways to combat it.

  • One poster submitted to and approved by IOM which raises awareness on human trafficking
  • One business card submitted to and approved by IOM which raises awareness of human trafficking

    Expected Timeline and Payment Distribution

  • First deliverable – Submission of draft video, poster and business cards – Deliverable by email by 2 January 2026

  • Second deliverable – Submission of final video, poster and business cards- Deliverable by email by 9 January 2026

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Communications, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or,

  • University degree in one of the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.

Experience Required

  • Digital communications and social media;

  • Corporate writing and editing;

  • Managing donor visibility;

  • Producing counter trafficking visibility materials;

  • Humanitarian communications;

  • Working in UN or other international organizations.

Skills Required

  • Graphic design, particularly using Adobe programmes an advantage;

  • Photography and videography, both shooting and editing an advantage;

  • Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity;

  • High level of professionalism and ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines in a complex and fast changing environment; and,

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
  4.
