International Economist

Position description
ILAB safeguards dignity at work, both at home and abroad – by strengthening global labor standards, enforcing labor commitments among trading partners, promoting racial and gender equity, and combating international child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Collects and collates contributions from ILAB staff or culled from existing products to contribute to briefing documents, analyses, and reports of economic studies of suitable quality for the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Deputy Undersecretary, and/or further dissemination, as appropriate.
- Disseminates for ILAB, DOL, or USG interagency comment, economic research of organizations at which ILAB is a member of a research oversight or peer review body and collects and collates comments.
- Accesses statistical databases of
national statistical agencies and international organizations to extract economic data in
Excel, Stata, SAS, R, Pivot Tables, or other usable format for subsequent analysis. - Conducts statistical analysis of large quantities of economic data and consults with the Chief International Economist or other senior colleagues on the implications and
significance for ILAB programs. - Prepares professional-style visualizations of economic data for a wide variety of ILAB products.
- Searches primary economic research-literature databases to identify citations for review in planned projects.
- Independently sequences and conducts preplanned international labor and economic research, studies, and analyses that demonstrate competent application of accepted professional techniques of research and analysis..
Qualifications
