Intern – Technology Transfer

Brandeis Innovation is a focal point for innovators and aspiring change-makers in the Brandeis community. Our mission is to put Brandeis values and ideas to work in the world, by providing a platform for innovations created at Brandeis to reach a wider audience. We provide support and infrastructure to Brandeis investigators for technology development, commercialization and the development of products.
Internship Program:
The Technology Transfer Internship program is an educational experience for individuals interested in technology transfer, business development, and/or patent law. Get real-world experience assisting with innovation development and the transition of technology from laboratory to market. The program enables individuals to complement their science, business, and/or legal background with experience in technology transfer. Individuals with a solid scientific background and strong interest in new technology and innovation ecosystem are encouraged to apply.
Interns work closely with Licensing professionals to evaluate invention disclosures, assess commercial markets, assist with business development outreach and the drafting/negotiation of commercial agreements. Key Highlights of this program include:

Acquiring an introduction to the field of technology transfer, intellectual property management, and marketing

Attaining marketable skills and learn about other career paths

Participating in special training and seminars on relevant topics

Developing a network of professionals in the entrepreneurial ecosystem including interactions with TLO professional staff who have years of industry experience and connections with other researchers who are interested in commercializing scientific technology
Eligibility
-
The candidate must have a minimum of a M.S. in life sciences or physical science field; an advanced degree in life or physical sciences is highly desirable.

Experience in university or corporate technology transfer or entrepreneurship programs is a plus.

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong scientific/technical background

Demonstrated interest intellectual property, technology transfer, and/or business development

Ability to research complex scientific concepts in a variety of fields and clearly and concisely synthesize the findings into a marketing summary for general audiences

Self-motivated and an eagerness to learn
