THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY
The focus of this post will be supporting and delivering the university’s annual business planning cycle – the Integrated Planning Process (IPP). The IPP translates King’s institutional strategic goals (Strategy 2026) into tangible actions owned by faculties and Professional Service units, within agreed, multi-year (three-year) allocations of financial resources. Through the IPP, every part of the university understands, delivers and is accountable for their role in meeting university priorities and targets, through mutual support and a shared purpose. The role will require a detailed understanding of the university’s strategy and risks, as well as an understanding of the strategic and operational issues of each business unit.
This is an opportunity to have real influence in a major organisation; you will help us to align our plans, resources and people to deliver on Vision 2029.
This role sits within the University’s Strategy team, reporting to the Director of Strategy within the well-regarded Strategy, Planning & Analytics Directorate (SPA). The team works closely with the other teams in SPA – Transformation, and Analytics. The Strategy team supports the senior leadership of the university in effective strategy development, planning and risk management. The team’s remit includes supporting strategy development projects (for specific policy positions, business decisions, business unit strategies, thematic strategies), but also synthesis of holistic external insight, institutional strategic frameworks, planning, corporate risk management and portfolio management.
The IPP requires coordination and collaboration across faculties and Professional Services directorates. This role is critical to making sure that this essential annual process runs smoothly and delivers its intended outcomes in line with the university’s decision-making cycle. The roleholder will need to bring clarity, focus and resilience to one of the university’s most important and complex business processes.
You will work with colleagues across the directorate and as part of a highly collaborative team drawn from across the institution. An outstanding ability to collaborate is essential. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the development of team, Directorate and organisational capabilities.
Colleagues may occasionally be asked to work across the Strategy and Transformation teams, on projects which have more of a focus on implementation, and can express and interest to work in this way with your line manager and through the PDR. Colleagues will also routinely work closely to ensure seamless delivery of service between teams, for example to ensure effective transition between business case development and project delivery.
This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
This is a full-time post.
