Intake Manager, Virtual Reception & Placement (VR&P)

Job Overview: In March 2022, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in partnership with the Department of State’s Bureau for Populations, Refugees and Migration, launched the brand-new virtual case management program, the Virtual Afghan Placement and Assistance (VAPA) program. Building on the success of this award-winning and innovative program model, the International Rescue Committee launched the first ever of its kind: the Virtual Reception & Placement (VR&P) program. This program will provides case management services to individuals for the first 90 days after their arrival, implementing Reception & Placement (R&P) in a virtual setting.
The IRC seeks an intake manager who oversees the intake functions of the VR&P program, including management of the VR&P general line in Zendesk, conducting eligibility screenings, and completing UST assessments. They supervise a virtual team of four staff, ensuring proper training and professional development. Additionally, they review and approve updates to screening and intake SOPs, monitor the eligibility process, and coordinate with the processing team to track client eligibility. The intake manager sits within the VR&P team and reports to the VR&P project director. This position is only open to current IRC employees.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees the key components of the VR&P’s intake functions including management of VR&P general line in Zendesk, VR&P eligibility screenings, and UST assessments.
- Supervises a virtual team of four staff including two virtual navigators and two intake specialists. Ensure these staff are appropriately trained and provided with regular professional development.
- Completes assurances for VR&P cases by conducting UST assessments, managing amended assurances, and reviewing assurance recommendations from intake specialist.
- Review and approve updates to standards of practice (SOP) materials for screenings and intakes.
- Monitors eligibility screening process, including review of client eligibility documents, coordination with IRC’s processing team, and tracking eligibility windows for benefits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in social work or related field.
Work Experience:
- Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum of 2 years’ experience strongly preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in supervising individuals providing direct client services.
- Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
- Experience in Reception & Placement strongly preferred.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in either Spanish or Dari & Pashto is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, use of case management databases, and email.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively, despite competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in English; proficiency in a language spoken by client populations a plus.
Working Environment:
- Fully remote.
Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
