NOTE: This is a Full-Time appointment commencing from
January 2023
The School of Applied Sciences and Technology invites applications for a
full-time position in the Computer Engineering Technology (CNT) Diploma Program.
As an active member of the CNT team, the Full-time Instructor is responsible
for preparing for and delivering course curriculum for the program in a
holistically engaging and inclusive environment.
Areas of focus for potential candidates would be enhancing student
skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Software application development, from design
to implementation, of console and Windows forms applications with an emphasis
in C and C# using the Visual Studio development environment, and Python
applications using the PyCharm development environment. - Familiarity with source control technologies
Git, GitHub, and SVN is a definite asset. - Full-stack web application development using
the Visual Studio Code and SQL Server Management Studio development environments. Specific current technologies include HTML,
CSS, Javascript, JQuery, and AJAX on the client side, PHP / ASP.NET on the
server side, and mySQL / SQL Server for databases. - Familiarity with MongoDB; Express.js; Angular,
React, Spring frameworks; and Node.js a definite asset for planned curriculum. - Electricity and electronics, from circuit
design to implementation, with significant exposure to basic passive and active
DC/AC circuits, digital circuits, Altera FPGAs, embedded system design,
construction, and programming using C, National Instruments DAQ with LabView, Allen
Bradley CompactLogix PLCs, and various associated communication protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct
classroom/lab instruction while utilizing appropriate instructional strategies
to maximize student motivation and learning in a skill-building environment. - Assist in designing,
developing, selecting and revising course curriculum and materials on a
continuous basis, using the Institute prescribed process. - Evaluate the learning
process: Ensure learning is evaluated in
a reliable and timely manner, providing appropriate and timely feedback to
students; Submit marks/records promptly. - Provide coaching or
referral for students who are experiencing difficulties in order to maximize
retention and student success. - Use the
institute-approved process to regularly solicit feedback on instruction from
students and use the results to improve instructional delivery. - In accordance with a
designated framework, utilize appropriate educational technology for
communications, presentations, and program promotion. - Other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications:
- A degree
(preferred) or diploma in Computer Engineering or related discipline is
required. - Industry experience within at least one of the target
skill sets listed above. - Previous curriculum development and course delivery is
a definite asset. - Additional
familiarity with Linux, PC / server hardware, Fusion 360 for 3D printing, basic
networking, and virtualization would be an asset.
Remuneration: $2,432.45 –
$4231.45 bi weekly, plus a comprehensive benefit package.
