Instructor, Academic Programs

The College of Agriculture & Life Sciences Academic Programs (CALSAP) at Virginia Tech invites candidates for an academic year, non-tenure track, instructor position.

The Academic Programs Office within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences serves the needs of a diverse undergraduate student population within the college. We seek a team member to become part of the teaching team of several courses within college Pathways for General Education creativity arts area and college-wide minors: Civic Agriculture and Food Systems and Global Food Security and Health. The instructor will join a team of faculty who teach college courses in the Pathways for general education arts and design category. The instructor will be part of a team to design and integrate new curriculum for these Pathways for general education minors. The successful candidate will partner with other faculty in college to design and implement bridge experiential learning experiences.

This is a nine-month, full-time position with a renewable two-year contract and the opportunity for promotion (for more information on the Instructor ranks, see https://faculty.vt.edu/faculty-handbook/chapter05.html). The candidate will advance the instructional mission of CALS and departments by teaching undergraduate level courses that are Pathways or part of CALS minors and providing administrative assistance with experiential learning opportunities. This position involves engaging in administrative management of academic college level minor degree programs, as well as curricular development and course transformations, adopting innovative and incorporating inclusive pedagogical practices. The college is committed to creating an inclusive environment that promotes the success of a diverse student body and is actively engaged in efforts to build inclusive educational practices within the curriculum; thus, candidates with experience teaching, mentoring, and/or advising students from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to serve on departmental, college, or university committees as a contributing member of the broader university community.
