Nature of Work:

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider for its rhinology practice at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCHa). As an active member of the rhinology team, the candidate will work closely with experienced rhinologistsin primarily the outpatient setting supporting a large academic tertiary referral practice focusing on the management of complex Rhinology patients. The qualified candidate will be appointed to the rank of Instructor within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery.

Examples of Work Performed

• The advanced practice provider will work under the supervision of the faculty otolaryngologist to provide both inpatient and outpatient care.
• The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the outpatient clinical service to include the following: manage new and return patient visits, provide pre-operative and post-operative education and care, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting. This will take place in concert with RN and MA staff already in place.
• The candidate will be trained to perform office-based procedures such as fiberoptic laryngoscopy, nasal endoscopy, management of feeding tubes, management of tracheostomy tubes, and office-based procedures such as simple biopsies.
• The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the inpatient clinical service, where appropriate and defined by need, to include the following: daily rounds, patient orders, inpatient progress notes, obtaining consultations and coordinating inpatient care.
• The advanced practice provider will be expected to participate, where appropriate, in the clinical research programs within the department as it pertains to rhinology.
• Provide administrative support and thorough follow-up to ensure orderly, effective, and superior patient care. This may include the development and implementation of educational materials or protocols for staff and patients.
• Assist in the education of residents, nurses, and medical assistants in the field of otolaryngology.
• The candidate will become proficient in the electronic medical record (EMR) system used by the hospital.

Salary and Benefits

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Ability to obtain a Colorado PA or NP license.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Previous otolaryngology or surgery ambulatory experience preferred; but if you are qualified, we will train you.
• Rhinology experience is strongly preferred, but not a prerequisite.
• Ability to work with a variety of health care providers and specialists.
