Position Description

Advertised Job Summary The Department of Psychology is seeking a full-time Professional Faculty to join our vibrant, innovative and expanding Department. Our vision is to advance knowledge and solve real-world problems to improve health and well-being through high quality and impactful teaching. The broad research foci of the department include child and family, cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, quantitative psychology, school psychology, and clinical community psychology with an emphasis on diversity and health disparities. We are expanding our experiential learning opportunities and are core contributors to a recently added neuroscience major. Given these exciting and innovative teaching advancements, coupled with increasing enrollment, we seek to expand our Professional Faculty to meet needs in our general Introductory Psychology courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods) as well as:
• Developmental Psychology: expertise in developmental psychology including Lifespan, Child, Adolescent, Exceptional Children, Cognitive Development, or related topics is needed to teach introductory and specialized coursework in this domain.
• Neuroscience: training in cognitive or behavioral neuroscience is needed to cover teaching in introductory and specialized courses that could include, but are not limited to, Sensation & Perception, Cognitive Neuroscience, Drug Use & Effects, or an advanced laboratory course in neuroscience.
• Social Psychology/Multi-Cultural Psychology: expertise is needed to cover courses such as Survey of Social Psychology, Multi-Cultural Psychology and other related courses, notably Behavioral & Mental Disorders and/or Survey of Personality.
This position is a 9-month, Professional Track appointment with a start date of January 1, 2023, renewable based on Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding. The opportunity for promotion is available based on years of service and evidence of successful performance. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses at all levels as described above. Applicants must have a minimum of a M.S. degree, (Ph.D. preferred) in Psychology and demonstrated excellence in teaching. The expected teaching load is 4-4, however, course releases may be given based on additional service in the Department, College, and University. The Department of Psychology serves 1400+ majors with 40 tenure track and 8 instructional faculty.
Required Education and Experience Applicants must have a minimum of a M.S. degree, (Ph.D. preferred) in Psychology and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
