Department of Pediatrics, Section of Developmental Pediatrics has an opening for a full-time Instructor – Behavioral Health Clinician position. 

Nature of Work:

Developmental Pediatrics is a regional program that provides clinical evaluations and management of a broad range of developmental and behavioral disorders. The Behavioral Health Clinician would work as part of a multidisciplinary team including Developmental Behavioral pediatricians, advanced practice providers, psychologists, genetic counselor, family navigator, nurses, and medical assistants to provide care for patients and their families with Developmental Disabilities. The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide clinical services to patients in Developmental Pediatrics, including psychosocial screening, education, advocacy, linkage to community resources, care-coordination, and follow-up. The Behavioral Health Clinician will also provide support to families to address their needs. Clinical care will be provided either remotely or at Network of Care sites in Colorado Springs.

Position Emphasis:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and implements assessment/treatment interventions that provide a variety of services to meet patient/family needs.
  • Monitors progress, cooperation, and acceptance of services.
  • Serves on hospital-wide committees, chairs or is highly participatory in department committees. Participates or leads initiatives to meet department goals.
  • Develops a therapeutic relationship with the patients and families to assist with the social, financial, and psychological problems associated with diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with peers within and outside of the department as well as community resources.
  • Conducts initial needs assessment to gather information on the patient/family’s medical, social, and financial history.
  • Serves as a liaison with multi-disciplinary care teams and external community agencies to identify, implement, and monitor interventions.
  • Facilitates staffing, care conferences, etc. to coordinate care between the treatment team.
  • Compiles and prepares case records, reports, and documents that comply with state and federal standards in providing case notes, treatment plans, and evaluations.
  • Provides clinical support/backup and resource expertise to other clinical social workers, which includes mentoring and assistance on cases, completing peer evaluations, and providing emotional support. Provides clinical supervision and monitoring to social work interns.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $74,000 to $80,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited university.

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to establish professional boundaries and demonstrate professional skills working with other disciplines, families, and patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of de-escalation techniques and the abilities to utilize those techniques with families.
  • Ability to prioritize various tasks/responsibilities to meet daily requests.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to meet requirements of mandated reporting and the necessary documentation.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills with internal and external parties.
  • Ability to build positive rapport with families and providers.
  • Utilizes best practice to ensure effective patient care.
  • Practices and promotes patient/family centered care.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate resources for family/child.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • At least 2-4 years of experience providing psycho-social assessment and interventions to patients and families.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in resources and supports related to autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities.
