Job Description:

Iowa State University’s Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) is accepting applicants for Instructional Technology Specialist II’s to collaborate across Iowa State Online, Enterprise Instructional Technology and Course Design and Quality teams within CELT to effectively design, develop and support courses across all modalities at the university. This position will provide guidance to faculty and staff regarding technologies supported at the university.

The Instructional Technology Specialist IIs will be hired across multiple teams within the Course Design and Quality unit:

Online Instructional Design team: Partners with instructors on the creation of high quality designed and developed courses for online courses, programs, certificate programs, etc. Participates in course auditing and quality design assurance in online environments.

Course Design and Quality team: Partners with instructors and additional campus partners on the best practices of design and development of course templates, design and delivery of resources and professional development programming, such as the Course Design Institute and Quality Matters. Engagement in accessibility and course auditing, across modalities.   

Faculty Support team: Partners with instructors and additional campus partners, such as ITS, supporting faculty in their use of the learning management system and centrally supported technologies; troubleshooting and managing the ticketing system, developing and  maintaining resources and knowledge base articles. Design and delivery of workshops as related to specific learning management system functionalities.

The Instructional Technology Specialist IIs will be responsible for assisting faculty in the designing and development of courses with current systems and technologies. This position will be providing guidance to faculty that meet instructional design standards and follow established procedures. Additionally, this position will be working in collaboration with academic units across campus.

The successful candidate will have effective time management and organizational skills, the ability to work well with a diverse population, and the ability to communicate effectively. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.

Level Guidelines
• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
• Provides guidance to students
