The Office of Data and Strategic Projects:

The Office of Data and Strategic Projects (DSP) is part of the Division of Student Learning and Academic Success (SLAS) and College of Undergraduate Studies, and provides guidance and support to enhance student retention, graduation, and success.

The Opportunity:

The Office of Data and Strategic Projects seeks a highly motivated Institutional Research Analyst II to support units in the Division of Student Learning and Academic Success (SLAS) with data collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination of findings to internal and external bodies that facilitate decision-making, strategic planning, and university assessment.

Responsibilities:  

  • Completing routine and ad-hoc data requests, which includes formulating queries from various database systems; prepping, wrangling, and disaggregating data; analyzing data and generating comprehensive tables, charts, and graphs using statistical software; and producing deliverables for stakeholders (lists, reports, summaries, dashboards, presentations, etc.).

  • Tracking retention, persistence, and graduation rates for first time in college and transfer student cohorts, and reporting progress toward goals and performance metrics.

  • Assisting the Director with surveys (design, disbursement, data collection, data entry, transformation, and analysis); interviews and focus groups (protocols, facilitation, and documentation); and impact evaluation plans.

  • Disbursing resources and facilitating data literacy workshops/trainings.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic degree in educational research, statistics, social science, or related fields.

  • Experience working with nested and large-scale datasets.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.

  • High levels of data integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.

  • Knowledgeable about institutional research, assessment, and/or evaluation.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient with SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software tools/packages.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.

  • Organizational and project management skills.

  • Goal oriented, adaptive, and collaborative team member.

  • Positive attitude and passion for student success.
