    Job Description This is a professional Select Exempt Service position located in the Division of Early Learning (DEL) in the Application Services Unit. The incumbent has responsibility as team lead for DEL IT Operations and End User Support Services. The function consists of information resource management, planning and coordination, information system planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and operation of on-line database-oriented computerized information systems, technical support, telecommunications administration and computer operations. The primary duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

    The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

    This is highly responsible, professional work requiring a substantial degree of independent activity to supervise and coordinate complex administrative programs of the Division of Early Learning. This position involves administrative, management and supervisory responsibilities.

    As a supervisor, the incumbent must communicate with, motivate, provide, or coordinate training, and direct the work of his/her subordinates. In addition, the employee must complete timely performance appraisals, develop timely and accurate work plans, and timely approve monthly attendance and leave for each position under his/her direct report. Timesheets will be completed in the People First system by the 5th business day of the following month. The incumbent has the authority to make hiring recommendations as well as disciplinary recommendations.

    Duties include:

  • Directs and coordinates the development of standards and operations relative to end-user microcomputer support, technical support, telecommunications administration and computer operations.

  • Directs the development of and administers implementation of long and short-range plans, for application of information resource technology to requirements of educational administration with the Department of Early Learning.

  • Establishes and maintains a vigorous staffing program for recruiting candidates for positions in a stressful and high-turnover career field. Ensures a solid orientation of all new personnel and maintenance of a comprehensive and continuous training and career development program.

  • Serves as consultant to DEL staff members on information resource management issues.

  • Delineates relationships between subordinate managers and between elements of the data processing organization and the activities being served. Develops and administers procedures for internal communication of operational matters. Ensures that lines of liaison are established internally and inter-departmentally.

  • Provides administrative and technical interfaces between the DEL and other program stakeholder technology offices.

  • Provide technical information needed for preparation of the Schedule IV-C information.

  • Assesses each request for change to determine the risks associated with the change and appropriate actions to be taken to document, advise, eliminate and minimize the risk through meetings, consultations, etc.

  • Perform other duties assigned

      • Annual Leave – Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
