Position Title: Information Management Assistant

Duty Station: Doha, Qatar

Classification: G5

Type of Appointment : Fixed term, One year with the possibility of extension

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Resources Management Unit and the direct supervision of the ICT Officer; the incumbent will assist in the design, development, deployment and maintenance of information systems, software applications and solutions to meet the organization’s business needs and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the assessment and coordination with the team in regard to the definition and specification of requirements.
  • Provide support in the specification, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of existing and new applications.
  • Train and provide technical support to users to facilitate productive use of the applications.
  • Support the configuration, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of applications and databases.
  • Create, manage, and maintain database objects to be used for applications and reports.
  • Implement software development SOPs establishing source control, backup, recovery, and issue tracking using IOM standard tools.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical and user documentation, as well as in the production of training materials.
  • Respond promptly within accepted timeframes to requests for the support and enhancement of applications facilitating continued operation of said applications.
  • Incorporate IOM’s Data Protection Principles and ICT Standard on Software Development into all IT/IS solutions and service delivery.
  • Consult with IM manager and other departments as required.
  • Undertake duty travel in support of the project.
  • Support application Development including:
  • Assist in Coding, testing, and debugging computer programs from specification.
  • Assist in writing programs and compiling data to test program.
  • Assist in the development of program flow charts.
  • assisting in writing specification of programs.
  • Support application documentation including:
  • Creating documentation for developed projects.
  • Updating and maintaining application documentation when necessary.
  • Drafting of reports.
  • Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • University degree in Computer Science, Development Communications, Social Science, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum three years of relevant professional experience,
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with five years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

EXPERIENCE

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Power Platform components, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI. Encompassing familiarity with Canvas Apps, Model-driven Apps, and Portals.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying Microsoft Power Apps solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly SharePoint and Teams.
  • Familiarity with the information management systems and their role in Disaster Preparedness and Response is an advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of computer software, hardware, and networks.
  • Experience in Microsoft Dataverse for data management and modeling, understanding the nuances of complex relationships, calculated fields, and roll-up fields.
  • Work experience in database user administration, e.g. users, roles, privileges, etc.
  • Experience in humanitarian work and capacity-building activities with Government, NGOs and INGOs would be a strong advantage.
