On-site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis stationed out of the CAMI Assembly Battery Plant.

The Role
The Industrial Engineer will work directly with the production teams in implementing lean manufacturing systems. You will analyze throughput data to help departments improve performance. You will be instrumental in designing and planning standardized work for future products alongside the core team, launching extraordinary products. In steady state, you will drive continuous improvement projects. The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to your success at General Motors.
What You will Do (Responsibilities)
The main purpose of the Industrial Engineer is to work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value.
The Position will develop, recommend, and implement changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and or product quality.
The position will oversee the daily work assignments for the core team members.
Promote safe work practices and implement objectives for ergonomics, health, safety, and housekeeping.
Support line balance activities (current, new models and engineering changes)
Identify and eliminate waste.
Lead continuous improvement workshops to meet annual productivity targets.
Work with Group Leader and Team Leaders to develop and implement the change plan.
Initiate and support work orders, Production Trial Runs (PTRs), and Change Control Process.
Coordinate Job Element Sheet (JES) changes to Standard Operating Sheet (SOS).
Facilitate trials for Standardized work Changes.
Complete operation validations (cycle or full validation)
Cycle Validation – Verify elements, options, Standard Time Data System (STDS), Master Process Documents (MPD) and Key Characteristic Designation System (KCDS) requirements.
Full Validation – Cycle Validation plus, ergonomics, layout, material routing, tooling, specifications, scroll and man machine chart.
Maintain documentation as current within APS, STDS and confirm JES’s meet Built in Quality (BIQ) Standards.
Provide STDS documentation within APS for Mandatory Sequence and Key Product Characteristics (KPC’s).
Support Through-put Improvement (TIP) activity to remove bottlenecks.
Provide through-put analysis reports.
Analyze through-put improvement proposals.
Track actual vs design intent for capacity and throughput.
Support and Train the Global Manufacturing System and drive the standards as identified to achieve and maintain the sites BIQ status.
Teach / Train the APS software (GM’s Job Instruction Database) as required.
Teach Cyclic and Non-Cyclic Standardized Work.
Support Continuous Improvement Basketweaves and conduct Waste Elimination workshops.
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent training or experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial engineering and proficiency in lean manufacturing techniques.
Knowledge of ergonomic principles and risk factors.
Ability to design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements.
Experience with MS-Office tools (Excel, Access, Project, Word, and PowerPoint).
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
This position requires flexible work hours including off shift and weekend support. Some travel is required to support future model activities.
