IFC is seeking a Senior Investment Officer for its Infrastructure and Natural Resources (INR) team in the Middle East & Central Asia region. The position is based in Karachi, Pakistan.

The INR business line provides financing solutions to clients focused on the power, transport, telecoms and municipal and environmental infrastructure sectors. The selected candidate will focus on developing and executing a high-quality investment pipeline of infrastructure projects, under the supervision of the Regional Infrastructure Manager. The selected candidate would focus on growing the business in Pakistan but will also get the opportunity to work more broadly across the Middle East & Central Asia region.

Duties and Accountabilities

• Build and manage relationships across clients, private sector partners, financial institutions, multilaterals, and governments to originate and advance investment opportunities.

• Drive business development by proactively engaging clients, demonstrating IFC’s value-add, and building a strong pipeline aligned with market trends, emerging risks, and opportunities.

• Lead investment execution—including structuring innovative financing solutions, evaluating opportunities, and negotiating complex transactions through to documentation.

• Leverage insights and market intelligence to inform strategy, identify trends, and continuously improve business development and transaction structuring.

• Collaborate across teams and regions to develop sector/country strategies, deliver integrated solutions, and maximize development impact.

• Provide leadership and mentorship while actively managing portfolios and strengthening client relationships.

• Mentor and coach more junior team members and help provide leadership in actively managing the portfolio and client relationships.

Selection Criteria

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field and ~12+ years of infrastructure investment and financing experience, ideally with exposure to IFC/WBG markets and MCA region.

• Proven track record in sourcing, structuring, and closing infrastructure investments, with deep knowledge across sectors (power, transport, utilities, natural resources, telecom/technology).

• Ability to build and manage relationships with private sector clients, governments, and partners, supported by strong judgment in identifying opportunities and partners.

• Understanding of IFC’s priorities, ability to innovate, challenge the status quo, and contribute to market creation and development.

• Familiarity with regional markets and challenges, coupled with a strong commitment to development impact and IFC’s mission.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
