Pay Grade/Pay Range:  MPP Maintenance Pay Plan

Department/Organization: 504106 – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning

Normal Work Schedule: 7:30-4 May vary

Job Summary: This position performs daily checks, routine and preventative maintenance, and makes repairs to DDC and pneumatic control systems, as well as to all heating/cooling ventilation systems; must interpret and work from specifications, plans and blueprints. Must drive from site to site.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an approved post secondary vocational or technical school program in a related field required AND a minimum of three (3) years maintenance experience in HVAC instrumentation and controls and refrigeration equipment with similar facilities OR a minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience in HVAC instrumentation and controls and refrigeration equipment with similar facilities. To include at least two (2) years of experience installing, testing calibration and troubleshooting of pneumatic, Direct Digital, and computer host HVAC controls; and using proprietary programming languages to enable and alter controls software, and entering these new programs into control system processors and memories. EPA certification required. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job (up to 50 lbs.) Must be able to perform those items in the Job Summary and the essential functions. Must have the ability to use job-related tools and equipment and chemical supplies. Must have valid U.S. driver’s license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.

Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post offer drug screen.
