Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Office within the NYU School of Professional Studies (SPS) at is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to assist with delivery of human resources services for the school. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, this individual will manage recruitment processes, including reviewing and processing job descriptions, conducting phone screens and reference checks, and managing onboarding processes for non-exempt and exempt positions, working in applicant tracking systems; assist with annual compensation review and performance evaluation processes, track and report on hiring, promotion, exit and other metrics; prepare correspondence and presentations; advise supervisors and employees on routine employee relations issues, operating within federal and state employment laws, University human resources policies and collective bargaining agreements; run reports on various systems and assist in planning community building, recognition, and training events.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
Required Experience:
3+ years relevant human resource experience with some experience in professional-level or specialist capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include intermediate knowledge of, recruitment, and/or employee engagement and/or training and development.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interviewing, problem solving, and negotiating skills. Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, legislation, and procedures. Ability to supervise work processes and staff. Ability to interpret and effectively communicate policies and procedures and resolve problems for a diverse population. Knowledge of standard office software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of HRIS/HRMS applications and online recruitment systems.
